Painting: Panzer IV Aus D

A recent game made me reconsider some of my armoured options. A Panther tank fired a HE shell into a building and it promptly fell down taking out two veteran squads (albeit they were small) in the process. Having two machine guns that could fire at two different targets was also an added bonus option (one in the hull and one co axle)! The HE shells blast marker could also do a lot of damage to large squads of tightly packed infantry - and in recent games killing infantry has been the critical difference as for all the tanks in the world those with more infantry have tended to been effective until the end of the game.

Thus my next purchase came about - that of a Panzer IV Aus D - the light howitzer and machine guns makes it a perfect infantry dispatching machine - I haven't yet tried it out yet so tactically  i'm not sure how it'll work.

Painting

Painting tanks are so much simpler than you'd think - especially single colour schemes like the German early war.

Base coat the bulk of the armour grey than apply a dark wash tone, before highlighting with the grey again and then weathering applied.

Tracks were painted in a dark brown before highlighting. And no ready to roll out. Just need to finish some infantry support....
