Gaming: Scenario - Seize the village! (Operation Goodwood) - 20th July 1944
What started off as a bit of a one off scenario based loosely on elements of Operation Goodwood at the extremes of the offensive has developed into a bit of a campaign. The nature of which is more linking scenarios to give it a bit of flavor rather than each battle impacting the next - that said the narrative is dictated by the action: The British win at Vimont so push on towards Valmeray, where heavy fighting stalls the advance so the next battle is set in the suburbs of Valmeray...

Indeed the story continues:
The fighting on the 19th July 1944 was bloody and brutal. Lieutenant Blythe and Slade's forces were severally decimated. Blythe's injury is superficial and he is able to continue in the field. The Romanian defenders equally so. The British attack with drew to the outskirts of the Valmeray to regroup and patch up their wounded. The Romanians consolidated their position on the far banks of the river. Neither side really willing to make another all out attack, but war doesn't stand still as Blythe and co who received further orders....

"The guff Sergeant Jones was remarkable gentle for a big man as he wound the the bandage around Blythe's arm that pinned a bit of gauze over gash in Blythe's arm. Blythe grimaced as Jones tied it off "All fixed Sir!"."Thank you sergeant" Blythe took a swig of water from his canteen and leaned back against the cooling stones of the farm house. His wounds were light, but two days of solid fighting had taken its toil in bodies and spirits. The enemy had retreated beyond the River and until reinforcements arrived Blythe could do no more than pull his men back to safety and wait. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moments peace. Unfortunately the war found Blythe again - the radio started to buzz again, what did brass want now..."
The British needed to secure the bridges in Valmeray itself so they could then launch a further offensive against the axis in this sector. In other sectors operation Goodwood is stalling and Valmeray would provide a perfect point in which to send forth an armoured column to then encircle German defenders to the North and South of the village and cut them off. The 'buzz' from the radio brought new orders to Blythe and his men. Having retreated from the outskirts of Valmeray they are now tasked with the capture of three buildings that the British will use as a staging point to launch their river assault! The Axis forces conscious of the British withdrawal also have eyes on these buildings. They believe that if local forces can occupy these it will form another line of defense that will stall the British attack further and have sent a recon force to secure the buildings.

Both sides resources are limited due to the heavy fighting of the previous days so twill be limited to 750 points a side.
The scenario will be 'Key Position' as set out in the rule book with the three objectives being the three buildings at the edge of the village. Holding more that the opponent secures the victory!
