Welcome Historic War Gaming Blogspot!

2020 has been a strange year with Brexit seemly moving of the front pages with the general election in December 2019 and the world could become a happier place. It seemed a good time on January the first to therefore resurrect my floundering miniature collect and wargaming hobby that was gather dust in the cupboards. So having painted next to no miniatures in the last 5 years or so I set myself what I thought was the rather ambitious task of painting 100 in total (about 1/4 of my collection at that point with the majority unpainted). I narrowed this down to some further targets - the main one being to have at least 1000 point bolt action army ready for the field - this in itself would be the first army I'd completed since out Warhammer Fantasy days at about 20 years ago. Within the miniatures a significant number were Napoleonic British and French so I also wanted to target painting a couple of units of both nations.

Cov-19 seemed to strike these fair isles around March 2019 and although the pandemic didn’t exactly give us additional time in our household – work still had to be done, chores completed, children cared for, meals prepared – indeed our evenings were largely unchanged, but some reason I focused a bit of time into painting and got engaged in painting the vast array of miniatures to the point it has become quite addictive.

Having got the passion back for miniatures and gaming I thought also it would be a good chance to start up the blog again so in the spirit of fresh starts I have started a new one to help maintain the momentum. Hopefully as social distancing is relaxed there will be some battle reports as well as painting updates.
